Indicative Simple Past
In English there is only one past tense, however in Spanish, there are two past tenses in the Indicative Simple Tense: 'Preterite tense' and 'Imperfect tense'.
Preterite Tense
The Preterite tense expresses an action or state as completed, in the past. (did)
Imperfect Tense
The Imperfect tense expresses an action or state as going on in the past, repeated or habitual.
(used to or was)
